Dr. Edrene S. McKay is a freelance educator and consultant with extensive teaching, creative, and administrative experience. Although her specialty is United States history, she is proficient in the latest computer technology and has a strong commitment to making educational resources, including computer technology, accessible to the community.

She is affiliated with several Arkansas and Missouri institutions of higher learning, including NorthWest Arkansas Community College (NWACC), Northwest Technical Institute, the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Crowder College in Neosho, Missouri, and Missouri Southern State College. A former University of Wisconsin-Madison academic planner, she has a Ph.D. in history from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.

At NWACC, she participates in the Step Ahead program (which offers college-level courses to students at area high schools) and the Weekend College program (designed for non-traditional students). She uses traditional and distance learning methods of delivery.

During recent years, she has developed a "Learning is Fun with Technology" professional development experience for teachers at Gravette Public Schools, an "Enrichment Through Technology" experience for members of the community, web page development workshops for teachers and parent educators, and a history detective series for NWACC's Kids College 2000.
