Welcome to historysources.tripod.com. My name is Edrene McKay. (In case you're wondering, "Edrene" is a combination of "Edward" and "Irene," my parents' names. )

I teach United States history and Western Civilization at Northwest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) in Bentonville, Crowder College in Cassville, Missouri,  and Missouri Southern State College in Joplin. My Ph.D. is from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, and my specialty is late 19th and early 20th century United States history.

At NWACC, I participate in the Step Ahead program (which offers college-level courses to students at area high schools) and the Weekend College program (designed for non-traditional students). I use both traditional and distance learning methods of delivery.

I enjoy incorporating the latest computer technology into the classroom and assign my students "Web Activities" to supplement traditional methods of learning (e.g., lectures, readings, and films). In Fall, 2002, I will be teaching a United States history class for Crowder College completely online.

During recent years, I developed a "Learning is Fun with Technology" professional development experience for teachers at Gravette Public Schools, an "Enrichment Through Technology" experience for members of the community, web page development workshops for teachers and parent educators at Springdale Public Schools and the Arkansas Parenting Education Network, and a history detective series for NWACC's Kids College 2000 entitled “From the Stone Age to the Information Age.”  I recommend that you visit the site and try to solve a few Scooby Doo history mysteries. I think you'll have fun and learn a little history too.
